In a heartfelt show of leadership and solidarity, the District Chief Executive (DCE) forGomoa East, Hon. Margaret Naana Ackom, has visited three security officers injured duringa recent swoop operation at Dominase Market. The operation, which took place on Thursday,22nd May 2025, was aimed at clamping down on criminal activity and involved personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Immigration Service.
The injured officers include Constable Theophilus Hayford, Corporal Daniel Akuffo Fiakor, and Assistant Immigration Control Officer (AST) Ghartey Bless.
Hon. Ackom was accompanied by a high-powered delegation including the Presiding Member, District Coordinating Director, District Finance Officer, Budget Analyst, and officers from the National Investigations Bureau (NIB). They were received by the Central East Regional Police Commander, ACP Francis Nchor, who commended the DCE’s swift intervention and assured the team that all three officers were in stable condition and responding well to treatment.
Also present during the visit were DSP Obiri Yeboah, Director of the PID Unit of the Central East Police Command, and ASP Asante, a staffer of the Command.
The DCE later met with DCOI Mary Asante at the Ghana Immigration Service Sector Command, who provided further updates on AST Ghartey Bless's condition and joined the team in visiting the injured officer.
In recognition of their bravery, Hon. Ackom donated GH¢2,000 to each officer to support their medical care and recovery.
“Your courage in the face of danger is deeply appreciated,” she said. “This token is not justfinancial support, but a symbol of our gratitude and unwavering support.”
The gesture was warmly received by the officers and their families, who expressed sincere thanks. ACP Nchor also praised the DCE’s efforts, emphasizing the importance of morale among frontline officers.
This visit highlights the Gomoa East Assembly’s commitment to the welfare of its securitypersonnel and its ongoing partnership with law enforcement in the fight against crime.
The Dominase swoop forms part of a wider regional and district-level strategy to tackle crime and improve security in Gomoa East. The visit by Hon. Ackom and the DISEC delegation underscores the district’s commitment to the welfare of its security personnel and to strengthening ties between the Assembly and law enforcement agencies.
