Operation lighting Gomoa East

26.Feb.2026

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Gomoa East has officially handed over Operation Lighting Gomoa East to a contractor, marking a significant step toward improving public lighting across the district.

The brief ceremony, held at the premises of the Gomoa East District Assembly, brought together officials of the Assembly, representatives of security services, technical officers, and the contractor responsible for executing the project. The event symbolized the formal commencement of works under the initiative.

Speaking at the handover, the DCE emphasized that the operation is aimed at restoring and installing streetlights across communities in the district to enhance visibility, improve security, and support economic activities. She noted that effective street lighting is a critical component of the government’s broader 24-hour economy agenda, as articulated by the President, which seeks to promote productivity, safety, and business operations beyond daytime hours.

The contractor, who received the lighting equipment during the ceremony, assured the Assembly of readiness to begin work immediately and deliver quality services within the agreed timeframe.

Officials present described the project as timely, adding that improved lighting will help reduce crime, enhance road safety, and create an enabling environment for traders and businesses to operate at night.

Residents of Gomoa East are expected to benefit significantly from the initiative once implementation is completed, as the district positions itself to take full advantage of opportunities under the national 24-hour economy policy.
